Getting a card, renewing materials, placing holds, etc.
Who can get a card
Any resident of Muleshoe and the surrounding area is eligible to use the library and check out materials only if in good standings(No fines or Fees) . Library cards must be presented in order to check out materials or knowledge of account number. There is no charge for the initial card issued to a patron .
How to Get Your Card
Any resident of Muleshoe and the surrounding area 17 years old or older, will be issued a library card upon completion of an application card at the circulation desk. Valid identification will be required. ONE Card is issued per address and per household.
Here is a checklist of items you will generally need to apply for a library card:
· A library card application (available at your local library or sometimes available on your local library’s Web site.)
· Current and valid ID with photo, name and Current address
OR
· Two pieces of current identification, one must include your name and address. These may include personal check; current telephone, gas, electric or cable bill; mail with a current postmark (within 30 days); or Voter’s Registration card (no post box numbers will be accepted).

Borrowing Limits
Lost Cards
From time to time patrons will report that a library card has been lost. There is a one dollar charge for a replacement card.
Circulation Period
The circulation period for adult and juvenile books in the general collection is 2 weeks.
The circulation period for various other materials is as follows:
DVD's - 1 day
Audio Books- 2 weeks
Placing Holds
Reserves are taken on most circulating materials in the library. Upon locating a reserved item, the library will call the patron.
Renewing Your Borrowed Items
Books may be renewed for another circulation period (2 weeks) unless the book is on reserve or in special demand.
Library Fines
The fine for overdue books is .25 per day, per book. The fine for overdue videos is $5.00 per day, per video. Any CD/DVD items put in the over night deposit box will be charged $ 1.00 per item
